The Sentinel Study Ireland has been featured in a new episode of The Claire Byrne Show, highlighting the innovative research taking place to better understand what happens after an organ transplant.
Professor Róisín Dolan sat down with Claire to discuss the work being carried out through the Sentinel study, explaining how the research team is exploring a new way to identify early signs that a transplanted organ may not be working as it should.
Central to the research is a straightforward concept: can a small section of donor skin serve as an early, visible indicator of internal bodily changes and function as a warning system in transplant patients?
During their conversation Professor Dolan explained how patients are enrolled in the study, what taking part involves and the wider goals of the research. She also highlighted the potential for this approach to improve how transplant patients are monitored and, ultimately, increase the likelihood of a success organ transplant.
